What comes with the towbar install?

Our towbar installation comes with everything you need to tow as soon as the job is finished, including tow ball, rated shackles and electrical connections.

Whats the tow rating or capacity my vehicle can tow?

The maximum tow rating can usually be found in your vehicle’s handbook. We also fit Rating Labels to the inside of the driver’s door and towbar, which display towing capacity and ball weight on completion of the job.

Can I leave the tongue/ball mount in the hitch when not towing?

As long as the tongue/ball mount does not obscure the licence plate, then there is no issue.

What happens if my trailer lights are not working?

Test all the lights on the trailer. If only one is not working there is a possible blown globe. If multiple lights are not working check the plug and make sure pins are connecting. If none are working then a fuse may have blown. In any case, if we have fitted the towbar feel free to give us a call. Our helpful staff would be more than happy to guide you through some troubleshooting.

Do I need brakes on my trailer or caravan?

In Melbourne, any caravan, boat or trailer loaded that is more 750kg needs to have either hydraulic or electric brakes.

Standard towbar or Heavy duty?

A standard towbar is usually a flat tongue held onto the towbar with two 24mm bolts. They are designed for smaller trailers and smaller loads.

Heavy duty towbars are designed around a 50mm box hitch and the tongue section is easily removable by being secured with a pin and clip. They are designed to match the maximum towing capacity of the fitted vehicle.

Will fitting a towbar void my new vehicle warranty?

If the part is not genuine but is interchangeable with the genuine part and is ADR Approved, it is deemed appropriate for the purpose and would therefore not void your manufacturer’s warranty.
